One strike and you’re out
Says the bloke down the pub
And his friends all agree
‘Cause they don’t get the nub
Of this joke that’s so sad
That so many can’t see
That it’s luck of the draw
That sets your destiny
For those kids he refers to
Did not have the same
Start in life as our own did
They are not to blame
If your mother’s in jail
At the time of your birth
Your arrival’s unlikely
To be greeted with mirth
If you don’t know your Dad
And your Nan’s not alive
It will be quite a struggle
Just to survive
So I really don’t think
Just one strike is enough
For those for whom just being born
Was quite tough
