They roared into the car park
Almost took out the gate
Maybe this time they really did
Leave it too late
Parked as close as he could
To Maternity Wing
He ran to get help
While his wife tried to ring
A kind passing stranger
Heard her distressed cry
And he grabbed a nurse
Who was just passing by
The head was now crowning
This was babe number two
There really was nothing more
For them to do
Please take off your coat
And keep your wife calm
He did as he was told
Holding onto her arm
Within seconds
A crying wet baby arrived
The man so overwhelmed
That he too then cried
Congrats said the lady
They both seem to be fine
And that’s when he explained
“But this family’s not mine”
And now real Dad comes running
Finally found a wheelchair
And a small group of helpers
Who have all come to care
And the kind passing stranger
Now feels quite out of place
Having seen her give birth
He can’t look at her face
“We’ll name him after you
You’re our help sent from heaven”
“You don’t want to do that” he said
“My name is Kevin”.
