Why now? And why Poetry?

Many people have jobs that most of us understand. For the Butcher, the Baker the Candlestick maker, the clue is in the name

Many others have jobs I wouldn’t even pretend to understand. I have no idea what a Commodities Lawyer does on an average day, or a Neuroscientist, or a Clinical Governance Lead.

The thing about my job is that most people truly believe that they know exactly what I do at work. But if they shadowed me for a day I think most would be in for quite a surprise.

On an average day of work I have tiny glimmers of insight into many different lives. And I come away with some very complex feelings that I need to process.

For me poetry is the perfect way to cram a multitude of feelings and ideas into just a few words. It’s my way of unpicking the day.
